Spittalfields on Thursday is antique day.... full of Junk from a previous era, useless trinkets, broken brick-a-brack, badly made 60s furniture, faded fabrics from the 50s/60s/70s, torn and tattered clothing, tired wooded letter blocks, worn out shoes that should have been slung away at least 10 years previous ... all of which is labeled "VINTAGE" and given an extortionate price tag ...
And I love going there ... taking in all the colour and textures ... there are always certain items I search for ... letter E's ... brooches ... knitting needles ... pearls ... etching tools ... hats ... reading glassses ... lace gloves ... ladybird childrens books ... Et cetera etcetera etcetera ... of course these items are usually found but are rearly purchased ...
I did however spot some knitting needles that at £2 per pair had to be bought... along with a military jacket with the most fiercesome of stitching to pull in the waist and broarden the shoulders ... certainly no slouching in this garment ... was £25 ... kocked him down to £20.
